LEGAZPI CITY – Another barangay (village) captain was gunned down by unidentified suspected rivals, while watching an illegal coin game outside his residence in Masbate province on Sunday afternoon, report reaching Camp. Gen. Simeon A. Ola said.
According to the report, Carlito Bujawe, 55, Bontod village chairman of Palanas town in Masbate was at 50 meters away from his house, watching the cara y cruz (coin-tossing betting game) beside Bontod cockpit when a gun shot was heard by the people around the arena at around 4:30 p.m.
Initial investigation showed the two assailants, one served as back-up approached Bujawe from behind and suddenly fired a shot on the back portion of his head that exited on his left eye.
Police recovered one empty shell for .45 cal pistol at the crime scene.
The victim had not reached the nearest hospital due to his instant death after the incident, on the other hand, the suspects fled right after the crime.
Police is investigating the assassination of the captain, whether it was politically-motivated. Johana Vi Gasga
