6M worth of materials torched by NPA

LEGAZPI CITY – Communist guerillas set fire to equipments of a construction company in the coastal town of Presentacion, Camarines Sur on Saturday night, as their continuous rampage in Bicol region due to refusal on paying levy, a police official reported Monday.


Construction materials worth P6 million, owned by Megay Construction Company were razed at around 8:00 p.m. in Barngay (village) Bicalen, Presentacion, Camarines Sur, said Chief Inspector Ayn Natuel, Bicol regional police spokesperson.

According to Natuel, around 20 suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels led by a certain Domingo “Tonsep or Eddie” Rodriguez barged the construction building and burned two dump t trucks, a bulldozer, one pay loader and a back hoe.


The communist rebels were demanding the proprietor to pay revolutionary tax, amounting to P6,000.00, said Natuel.

The group left the place after torching the equipments, heading towards the mountainous area of Sitio (sub-village) Guirobat, Barangay (village) Bicalen in Presentacion town, Camarines Sur. Johana Vi Gasga/Inquirer Southern Luzon
